Alive 2007
May 2021
From day one, NYC has taught me to appreciate what it means to feel “alive.”
Shortly after my first trip to the city, and beginning freshman year of high school, I was hospitalized for anorexia at age 14.
Recovery wasn’t easy — but it saved my life.
I initially resisted treatment, however once I flipped my mindset, I was all-in — there was no going back. I’m forever grateful for my team of doctors/family who led the way, and for the strength, drive and resilience that has led me to today — 13 years recovered (and counting).
Mental health is a difficult and personal subject. I am sharing this for Mental Health Awareness Month because I wished I had someone to look up to when I was searching for a reason to hold on.
I hope this inspires others to see things differently, and embrace the opportunity in the unknown. There is more to gain than to lose by getting help — and no better time than now.
The best is yet to come ✨
